It might have been the beautiful winter sunshine, it might have been the smell of sizzling bacon or perhaps the sight of 95 Nordman Fir Christmas Trees standing proudly in the car park of the Crown Inn – but one way or another there was a wonderful atmosphere at our recent Community Christmas Fayre.

atfotf_2St Mary’s church was  packed with festive craft stalls, decorated in true Christmas style, complete with a Santa’s Grotto, and filled with the sounds of handbell ringing, choir singing and its own church bells ringing. At one point you had to queue to get into the church but there was a feeling of genuine Christmas spirit and an air of excitement and expectation as people bustled in through the doors. Brisk business was reported by stallholders many of whom booked a space for next year’s event before leaving!
It was wonderful to see so many people from throughout the parish and beyond supporting our first Christmas Fayre. The organising committee would like to thank you all for coming and for helping to make the event so successful. We will meet in the New Year to review the Fayreand welcome any comments you may have to help us fine tune plans for next year. We would also be interested to talk to any local companies who might consider matched funding this event as proceeds from the Fayre will go towards St Mary’s church, Bishops Cannings Youth Action Group, the Pre-School and Primary School. Thank you again for supporting the Community Christmas Fayre and we wish you all a Happy New Year!

Meet up with your neighbours !!

By , February 16, 2014 7:31 pm

Our Parish of Bishop’s Cannings has been growing fast of late and some reading this will have moved in recently. Owing to work and commitments you may not have had the opportunity to meet up with your neighbours.

It has been suggested we have a Community morning in Bishop’s Cannings Village church.

This will take place on Saturday, 15th March 2014 from 10.a.m. to 12.0 noon to which you, whatever your age, are warmly invited.

We look forward to seeing you there.
